久葉①-久高まんじゅう主

The smallest of the seven types of sanshin, the "kubanufunī" is said to be the masterpiece of Kubashundun. Its name derives from how the instrument resembles the leaves of the "kuba", or Chinese fan palm (Livistona chinensis) when viewed from the side. Its neck ("sao"), the most slender of the seven representative shapes of sanshin, gradually extends outwards in width towards the bottom of the instrument.

真壁①-島唄

The most widely distributed of all types of sanshin is the "makabi", thought to be made by the master sanshin craftsman, Makabi-satunushi. As represented by its name "Morishima-kējō, the term "kējō" (bell ringing to indicate the arrival of dawn) was a name conferred by Ryukyu kingdom officials to sanshin with exceptionally exquisite musical tones, which is said to be as clear as the ringing of a bell at dawn. Generally, sanshin affixed with "kējō" in their names refer to Makabi-type sanshin.

与那城①-かじゃで風節

Said to be crafted by Master Yunagusuku, who was of the same generation as the legendary sanshin craftsman, Makabi-satonushi. Commonly termed "yunā", the neck ("sao") features a wide girth, a longer head ("ten") and a broad "hatomune" (top of the base of sanshin neck).
